The number of startups is increasing at a rapid rate. Technology is cheaper than ever and funding is more readily available. Yet, after talking to dozens of startups, there’s one problem we hear over and over again: finding talent. Talent is the lifeblood of any startup, yet acquiring the right people continues to be a dreaded task. It is likely the most difficult challenge facing startups today. To compound the situation, the task of acquiring talent is often placed squarely on a recruiter who knows little about the culture or the company. This leads to unqualified candidates and mis-hires which can be toxic to an early stage company.
